Hello again!

I wanted to let you guys know what is going on with bury me in leaves right now.

August is here, and it's going to be a hectic month. I am going to try to get my blog rollin' by mid August if not sooner. You'll notice any of my past entries that had photos missing are gone now. I'm going to try to find the photos via the links that were posted with them so that I can restore most of my past 2 years. So all of the missing blogs are just hiding in draft mode :)

You can enjoy a new background; I'm not sure if this is the one I want to have forever, but for now it is adorable and reminds me of camping! I have also made new business cards which I'm super excited about:

I want to take this moment to apologize and explain.

After finally having my blog the way I want it, and finding the time to make posts just about everyday, a huge mistake has been made.

I wish I had never joined google+ along with everyone else.

I was invited to join, so I did. I then saw that it had imported some random photos. I had no idea why they were there. So naturally, thinking that I didn't want other people to see them on my profile, I deleted them. No confirmation, no "watch out, this is linked to your blog!" nada.

My images have been missing for a few days, and I wasn't sure why so I sought help in the google forums. I found that I was not alone in this and that there (supposedly) is no way to get my images back.

My heart is broken because a lot of these photos I don't have anymore. Going back in time to replace the images seems fruitless. I'm not sure what to do right now at this point. Any feedback? hints? tips? magical html knowledge?

I just finished reading Downtown Owl by Chuck Klosterman. Being one of my favorite writers, I wouldn't expect anything bad from him, but come on writing about a small town couldn't possibly be interesting. Right? WRONG! This was such a witty and well written tale of the small town of Owl. I am a fan of books that seem like they are going to be simplistic but are actually extremely complex. If you have not read this book (as well as his others), you should go to the library and get it as soon as you can.

Hi, so I know I have been keeping secrets and not updating much, so thanks for all of you who are being patient while I do behind the scenes work on my blog and future goals :)

So a secret that I wanted to share with you was that I have been super into learning about makeup and skincare. I have been reading, experimenting, watching videos, etc. on learning about products. It all seems so simple and silly to most ladies, but I didn't grow up being taught about such simple things. I have decided to start a youtube beauty channel for girls like me who are just beginning with these things. My user name is currentlyautumn I think that since I am just learning, I could really help people find things quicker, get the basic info that I had to search high and dry for, and just teach people what I am learning.

I hope that as my blog and youtube grow, you will enjoy my company. I'm sorry I had to keep it a secret :) but it was all a process of getting my plan together and many many lists of how to deal with my blog while still growing as a person.

I found the winter coat of my dreams! I was watching this episode of Biggest Loser from last week, when all of a sudden I saw Alison Sweeney wearing the MOST AMAZING green coat I've ever seen!

After searching the depths of the internet, I finally found only 1 in my size and after 1 day of debate returned to the site to purchase it. I cannot wait until it gets into my arms!
And, yes, I do know it's almost spring :)
I couldn't risk it being out of stock or discontinued like everything else seems to do when I love it.

I'm in the process of getting a new blog schedule together. I was really sick of my blog, as if you couldn't tell.
For other people new to blogging, you know it's easy to get sucked into the blog world. What should I be posting? What would make me have more readers? How do I keep up? How do I post everyday without boring everyone to tears? These questions beat you up when you first start; they make you not want to update.
I think that my issue was I was too focused on what I thought readers wanted to see, and not focused enough on what I wanted my readers to see and know.

Today was such an amazing day off. We went grocery shopping early, cleaned off the back porch, and hung new blinds that I found at the flea market for $5. Then we packed a picnic and went to the post office. I sent my swap that I did with Sarah from kaleidoscope explosion. We became picnic camper cutie friends in Style School. The day has finally come! My computer Hamburger has come into my life! It's so strange because I have never bought something pricey for myself before. It feels so nice to have something that I bought with my own hard earned money that is going to better my life. Here is Hamburger and me in all of our joy and glory!!

She blinded me with Science

When I lost Banana, my lovely yellow bicycle, I was very very very upset. I got a new bicycle dubbed Science for her silver beat up body and bought a rear basket from my friend. I painted the baskets yellow in honor of Banana.

Since Science isn't the cutest bicycle on the planet, I have been trying to spice her up a bit! So instead of hauling my groceries in the lame mismatched bags I have been using that are getting torn, I got these 2 adorable matching squirrel bags that fit perfectly in my rear baskets! They are cute, useful, recycled, sturdy, weather ready, and the perfect size!
My next mission will be getting a new chain (I was thinking yellow), new handlebar tape (blue?), repainting the baskets and eventually, hopefully, if dreams come true, painting her a nice aqua color like this bike! She really could be lovely with my money, time, and more care. Daydream color scheme:

This guy at the bike shop today said that she was ugly :( . In happy news I should and most likely will have my IMAC by the end of this month! I also am scoring a free printer from my basket friend! :) thanks to my BFF!

5 things that make me

Who are you as a person? As a crafter? How you present yourself to others in person, online, in your home...I think these are all important things. Since starting style school (only a few days ago!) I've been thinking about this a lot. I already have a personal style but it's so sporadic that sometimes I get overwhelmed! I thought to help me with my Style File binder I would pick 5 things that really make me who I am. I always notice patterns, and I can't help but notice that when I look at clothes, shoes, books, accessories, home decor items, etc. that I want to buy they follow the following 5 things (ideas/color schemes)! This must mean something and say something about who I am as a person, a girl, a crafter. What 5 things make you? What 5 ideas/items/other make you crazy with excitement when you think about them?

1. picnics

This is more of an idea. I love picnic inspired vintage, dresses, housewares, tupperware, colors, weather, books, etc! The entire idea of picnics makes me bananas!

2. camping

Camping is up there with picnics. I love the ideas of camping! Vintage campers, tents, teepees to play in, plaid shirts, fishing, rolled up pant legs, dirty knees, climbing trees, campfires!! I get inspired just thinking about it!

3. Back to school

I love office supplies, chalkboards, maps, globes, lunchboxes, new books, new binders, libraries, bookshelves, wood grain, secretary or librarian inspired dresses!, bicycles with baskets, knowledge, group projects, paper, etc.

I LOVE these colors together and separately. Red and yellow remind me of picnics as well, aqua and chartreuse are so so cute together. I could mix and match these all day long!

At the base of all of these things, I love Autumn with all my heart!

When I think of these 5 things I really think of myself. They influence my life, my clothes, my home, the vintage I adore, and me as a person. I think these convey cute innocence and fun light-heartedness. Now the task is to present these 5 constants in my everyday life. Not just by the clothes or things I like, but in my Etsy shop, in my blog, in my craft room, in general! I hope that style school will help me with this because I have so many ideas and thoughts running around in my noggin haha

Hi everyone!
I know it's been an entire month since my last update. ***big fat frowny face** Unfortunately my computer died on me so I'm saving up for that sassy IMAC so for now I'll use Stephen's computer but we have it hooked up to the tv; it's a bit inconvenient when one of us needs the computer and the other is watching a movie! Still, I will try to keep this blog updated as much as possible!

I joined Style School hosted by two crafty ladies I adore Elsie and Leigh Ann. They are definitely inspiring and it's going to be a great opportunity to stay focused and build my personal style as well as get some insight on how to better my etsy shop and just become more of yourself. It's hard sometimes to stand out in a sea of crafty folks especially with (in a good way) etsy expanding. You have to remain unique and memorable while still appealing to people :) it's very exciting.

I'm going to take care of some things and hopefully stop back in to give a real blog entry! I still have not finished my new years goals list, but I do have a lot written down. I don't believe in resolutions just plans.

It seems like Sundays are the best days to blog for me since I could spend a good hour thinking about inspiration and crafts and making lists. This morning my neighbors are stomping around being obnoxious; I'm snuggling with my pup and making things all morning. I promised myself not to slack off on crafting today since I've felt really down and unmotivated recently.

Good morning everyone! It's finally November!

I can't believe how fast autumn came this year!

At work I won the costume contest for our Halloween potluck! I dressed as Peter Pan and it came out quite adorable if I do say so myself. I don't have any good pictures yet, but when I do I'll post one. Did everyone have a great Halloween?

Today since it is rainy and cold out I'm going to clean the apartment

Hi cupcakes!

Today I worked on my day off, watched Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and played country story on facebook. I'm totally obsessed! They just added halloween decorations, too!

Tonight I'm working on some Etsy stuff. Envelopes for orders, knitting, and then going to bed early. The cold weather makes me cozy and want to sleep.

My goals for this week:

-straighten my craft room

-finish 2 projects

-start some of the autumn projects from the craft class (why did i get so behind??)

-do laundry

-send out orders and swapbot packages

-decorate more mailing envelopes and tags

-finish my Halloween costume

I'm sorry I have been so busy. I went ho

me for a week to visit with my dad. My grandma was put into the hospital, but is home now and is doing better from what I hear!

I'm working on crafting and doing swap-bot packages; but the internet has been ignored lately! Ugh! I'm trying to be better. Really!

Today I went to Maymont Park with Stephen:

While I was home my dad bought me a Blackberry for my very early birthday present!! This is so awesome!! It's so much easier to be connected and more responsive for Etsy/blog/facebook/emails etc.

I'm very excited about everything that is happening and so so so ECSTATIC that it's autumn!

Kings dominion unfortunately got cancelled since it was so rainy. However, I am getting my costume together and will hopefully be carving pumpkins this weekend.

I'm sad more people I hang out with aren't as excited by autumn as I am. We really could have so much fun! I have amazing recipes and ideas for a potluck.

I haven't updated in quite a few days. My computer is slowly dying. It is 6 years old and I'm slowly saving for a new one! I feel ... uninspired to do things since my computer started going downhill. The sound card doesn't even work anymore!

Here is my computer love interest:

Today I got some new items for my vintage burymeinleaves section. I'm really thrilled to be filling up my shop. I've been working so hard, my dreams are slowly turning into reality. My main goal is to have a filled shop that I am proud of owning. I also want to get my accounting under control so that it's organized.

goals for October:
- Save $300 for new computer
- List at least 15 new items in etsy
- Start/keep up with an actual accounting notebook
- Finish my sewing projects I started and have not finished yet
- Get Halloween costume together asap
- Begin new craft ideas!
- Learn how to crochet correctly. I have learned the concept of crochet, but have very uneven stitches :(
- Get new cardigan, glove-ittens, dress shoes, and tennis shoes
-unclutter my craft studio

I've got a lot on my plate right now, but I am excited about this autumn/winter season!
I have not kept up in the autumn craft class and look forward to doing more projects from it soon. This week I am hopefully seeing my sister and nephew! I want to be able to update my blog everyday and have definite plans to do so, however this computer issue is really really getting to me!

Maybe it was the recipe I used? Maybe it's because I don't have a whisk? Whatever the reason, I tried to make my own pumpkin lattes 2 times today only failing! :( I think I'll have to leave the deliciousness up to starbucks. They just know what they are doing or maybe they sprinkle magic on top instead of nutmeg?

I'm really glad that the sun decided to come out today! Even though I felt lazy I did a huge blog makeover; well to me it was huge haha! Also I did an etsy update and a lot of work for the autumn craft class. I'm DRAINED!

Hi lovelies!
So this past week has been a flood of inspiration! Between the cooler weather, the pumpkin lattes, and the autumn craft class my brain has been flooding! Thursday I finally spent time starting to organize my craft room! my sewing table is much easier to navigate and with a few piles of things to go through, I'm almost complete! A clean work space is also very inspiring! I have tons of new items coming to my etsy shop soon along with a new photo layout (buried in leaves! get it?) :) I'm so very excited.

Also here are some sneak peaks at my unfinished autumn craft class projects! I finally got around to starting them. This morning before work I cut out the stuff for my owl and decided on a phrase for my text pillow (which for now is a suprise!):

Another great thing going on is Swapbot! I love all the swaps I'm in right now (all autumn themes of course!) and I love that I come home to a package every now and again that has complete surprises in it. I seriously recommend swapbot if you are a mail lover like myself.

I've also spent a lot of time lately thinking about family and friends. I'm not perfect (no one is), but I really feel I have let some people go that I truly miss along with letting a few people down who have walked away from me. I know you other crafty gals and guys know that it's hard to balance being productive creatively with having hangouts with friends who don't like knitting/sewing/gluing/etc. I've truly gotten to a point in my life where my dreams are becoming realities and I've found myself with only a handful of people to share it with. If you are having issues like this, my best advise that has been working for me, is to open up. I have made phone calls and went to hang out with new people lately and had such a great time, I forgot what it was like to walk away from my crafting to go just be with people! What a great thing!

Anyway, I hope that all of you are doing really well! What is everyone's favorite music for autumn? I have a long list going, but right now I am really enjoying Antony and the Johnsons (who I saw and met in DC last winter) and Kings of Convenience!

Oh so busy!

Hi everyone!
Sorry for the lack of update, I've been super busy as usual! I really want to make a great blog, and I have put it on my goal list to make sure I keep up with it.

On Sunday, Stephen and I went to Maymont (a local park that is ridiculously beautiful) we had a picnic, played frisbee, and I worked on some crafty projects! I'm working on putting my 2010 planner together from the kit from RVA! It's so much fun to get organized! All I have to do now is finish a few pages and whip out a cropadile!

I'm also getting my autumn fun schedule together! It's almost done! Autumn is my favorite time of all time forever, so every year I make a schedule for October of fun things to do! This year will be the best, I just know it. I've also (as usual) got 15 billion ideas for a costume!

Good afternoon! I'm having such a great day so far! To begin with, for those of you who don't know me in person, I quit my second job. So now instead of working 7 days a week, I work 5 like a normal girl! Today was my first Sunday off in at least 2 years (with exception if I was sick or out of town on sundays). I woke up late (for me! 630am!), and Stephen and I got our laundry and biked to the laundry mat! I should post pictures of my "new" bike, Science; her baskets and carrying abilities are amazing! After laundry we came home and made breakfast burritos, read the sunday paper, and watched law and order for a bit. Then I went to the gym with my friend Shannon at 11am. I was really glad it was crowded today; I love when it is just close to empty. Now I am doing a bunch of Swapbot stuff and working on new etsy items. I have been making a lot of new things for my shop and have had no time to complete them. I'm really looking forward to having Thursdays to myself to do as much crafting as I want.

In Project Runway news, I'm so glad Mitchell got cut! He was never "in."

Hi there! I'm so busy knitting and making things for my etsy shop updates along with working 7 days a week, I just haven't had time to swing by here to make an update or read my favorites! Yesterday my boyfriend, Stephen, surprised me with these cute gifts from RickRack Vintage on etsy!! (title is the link photos taken by seller not me, check it out!!)

I was longing for these items, along with everything else in the shop, for a few weeks. What a cute and amazing surprise mail gift! I absolutely love anything and all things pyrex and I ADORE faux bois (fad or not, it's a trend that will live on forever in my heart regardless of if it's hot in a year or not!). Their designs and high quality make me so happy! Tonight is the next project runway so i'll be up late in anticipation. Also in the land of internet, I "rejoined" swap-bot! I was on there for a long time almost when they first started, then I completely forgot that I had an account! It's gotten 10 times easier to navigate plus the layout with the little envelope is really cute. **********I need help!******* Being new to blogspot, still, I have yet to figure out how to post links! I tried typing the the http:// that did not work. I tried the "link" option in this layout doodad, and THAT did not work... What am I doing incorrectly?? Completely clueless haha! I will do a better update soon with mail updates/etsy updates/self portrait updates/ autumn plan updates/ fashion updates!!! Have a great evening all!

Hello everyone! I have been told that I need to use correct grammar in my blog. I just want to say sorry from the start! I am a grammar nerd, with the exception of simple mistakes, I am usually the one correcting other people. Since my job requires typing and the program is in auto caps lock, I usually don't think much when I type anymore. I am going to make a giant effort to make this better!

I'm trying to put more crafts in my Etsy shop right now. I've been working hard and slowly towards making life better each day; it is really progressing! The past few days here and there I have slowly started to organize my craft room "studio." I made tags for the plastic drawers and some designated areas. It will be much better once I can figure out where I need/want things to go. Right now, it is all random and at least the felt scraps are all in one drawer!

The other news, in case you haven't heard, I started a flickr account under "heidi pumpkin pie." I had been meaning to do this, and just never did; so now was the time.

Another goal of mine is to start taking photos specifically for my blog entries; I'm still learning, but I know that I personally like to see blogs with tons of photos and visual stimulations. I don't want mine to be lacking in something I look for from others.

As much as this is a promotional tool for myself, it is much more to me than that, it is a connection.

Tonight is the new season of project runway, now moved to Lifetime! I'm very jazzed! Is anyone else watching?
I'm still confused as to why Bravo would drop this show; it was so very very very very very very cont. good!

the sick day

oh wow! where to start? so, today i woke up sick which was a huge bummer. i'm not feeling very hot right now an it's more than 12 hours later. the first thing i should tell you is that my boyfriend is a trash to treasure elf. i have elf powers over the weather and the future, while he can say we need something or really want something, and the alley gods give it to us. so this morning, stephen wakes me up and says, "I have craft trash to treasure for you!" this is exciting because there is no telling what it is. last time it was plastic storage drawers for my craft room that came in sets of 3 on 3 different dog walks! this morning it was this:

tons of yarn/needles/thread/a how to knit book. i'm assuming someone wanted to learn how to knit and gave up? this is what i have seen many people do. they buy all the means to do something then set out to do it, fail and give up. or succeed and don't have time for it in the end. it's sad, but their misfortune is my luck! the story with stephen and treasures in the alleyway trash is so weird, i don't know where to begin. he never digs in the trash or goes looking for things. when he walks nehi, things just are there. when he needed computer chair poof! when we needed an outside table supplies to make one appeared! when i needed organization in my craft room poof! magic plastic bins! we needed a dish drainer poof! one that somehow magically fit perfectly in our sink! i needed paper cutting scissors that were sharp and decent/ poof! martha stewart scissors that are worth 30 bucks and someone had thrown them out! digital camera from early 2000, sunglasses, a bracelet, speakers, speaker stand, bookshelf...it's seriously insane. i told him to make a blog, which he has yet to do, but he does have an album on facebook. if you are interested in seeing it let me know. everytime it happens it's shocking! i spent most of the day watching true crime/murder stories and law and order. i have an obsession with crime stories; people are CRAZY. then this evening stephen made us dinner. it was lemon butter broccoli, garlic red new potatos mashed, and lemon baked salmon. now i don't normall eat meat. i have been a vegetarian for years, but i decided that i would try to eat salmon again and see what happens(i'd be glad to discuss this in detail via email if confusing or debate in need!). it was truly delicious. i doubt i'll eat "real meat" anytime soon after this many years of pretty much no meat.

anyway. tonight is our movie date night which is popcorn and netflix. tonight I Love You, Man with Paul Rudd, whom i will one day marry! (sorry stephen!)

i will hopefully sneak some knitting in! i've also found really great places to get yarn lately =] have a good evening! i hope that i will be back to work tomorrow!

Apples Peaches Pumpkin Pie

I started back up at the gym a few weeks ago! I've been very thrilled with this already because working out really makes me feel better about myself. For some people going to a gym is not the answer, but for me, if I am not with a bunch of people or a friend exercising, I just won't do it. I ride my bike everywhere since it's my transportation, but that just isn't enough for me. Do other people have a physical fitness routine? Does it get in the way of your crafts or do you make it work with your schedule? I find that even with working 7 days a week, going to the gym, and also regular errands that have to be done like groceries, laundry, bills/rent/post office runs, I still have time for my etsy shop. Obviously, I'd love to have more time than that for it, but I make it work.

If anyone needs tips on time management, or if you have tips for me, let me know! I'm really excited about bettering my time and the time of others. It is really important to me to be productive, creative, but remain happy while doing it.

This weekend is a movie night with my boocakes! I am excited to do things with him since these days we are pretty busy running around. I'm very lucky that he understands I like to be busy.

So, I have decided to finally open the vintage section in my etsy shop that I have been forever wanting to start! I have discussed it in depth with myself and others. I didn't want to have a vintage shop(not right now anyway); i just wanted to sell vintage goods that I would want to buy. Things that I find adorable or completely cute!

Etsy has been a dream come true so far, and yet I feel like I have just started. I started selling on Etsy a year and some change ago. It has been nothing but fun, productive, and fully beneficial to me.

I hope that you other Etsy sellers love it as much as me. Thanks each and every person who has purchased from me for helping my dream come true a little bit more each day. Also, I'd like to thank anyone who shops on etsy for supporting diy, upcycling, recycling, and a handmade world. Making things is very important to me and living in a place where things are being used and not wasted is a very small, simple idea with big results.

how do you spend your time?

Hi! While I was at work today, I thought, "I wonder how my favorite artists/crafters/etsians/buyers/bloggers/musicians, etc. spend their time!" How do people fill up their days so that they feel productive, happy, sane, not burnt out, and still inspired? How do they stay creative, involved in their community, and still hold down a job and have children and make dinner in the evening?

I thought I would layout a few of my days and maybe get response on how others fulfill their time.

I work 2 jobs; this equals 7 days a week with no actual day off from the "real world." I live with my boyfriend Stephen who usually wakes up at 3:30am (not by choice; he has trouble sleeping). He wakes me up at 4:30 or 5am, and I start my day!

On Tues., Thurs.- Sun. I work at my full time job that I love. Not luxurious,, but definitely stable, good coworkers, good bosses, great atmosphere, and I am helping people! I usually wake up, make a pot of coffee, check all of my online site addictions: email, etsy, facebook, favorite blogs, etc. Then I put my face on and get ready for work. I drink coffee during all of this then hop on my bike at 650am and get out of the door after I pack my lunch and breakfast for work. After work I will watch some television or sew or knit. Stephen is the main cook, so usually he will cook and I will do the dishes. P.S. we do not smoke anymore! ***cute!***

Mondays and Wednesdays are my favorite times because I don't have to go to work until 11am! I spend the morning sewing, packing up etsy orders, cleaning here and there, watching television, making a good breakfast and not just a Luna or Lara bar! I hang out with the pup, Nehi; he likes to watch me make things and just follow me around while I do things.

Here and there I have meetings for Richmond Zine Fest

I also have Tuesday night Television with my best friend Grant. We get dinner and watch a t.v. show til late in the evening. Currently we are re-watching Gilmore Girls! Sometimes I'll have zine nights with my friend Jake. Mostly I'm a homebody lately as I tend to be super busy with making things.

Anyway, that is a small glimpse into my life for right now =]
